In the past, I wondered whether you belong to the skeptical movement or skeptical society. To be honest, I was not really sure of what they are already, but after spending four days in Manchester in Qedcon VI, I am sure I am part of the skeptical movement and a member of society as well. It seems that there is a topic in the discussions on and outside the stage throughout the weekend: the governments of the world are making decisions that see the irrationality thrive, and education is rejected and an evidence based on evidence in life is taken. This answered a question by many talks and discussions: Are we waste our time with skeptical awareness and activity?
Well, there are many examples of why we were not exist and highlighted throughout the weekend, but there are a number of conversations in particular that hit a nerve for me and I will focus on those in this exam.

Meirion Jones with ADE651 image: Sean Salter
Sunday in Qedcon closed with Meirion Jones (in the photo) that we took through The timeline to investigate ADE651 – The discovered bombs did not discover the bombs. It was a great device that was designed to look as if it had jobs that were simply not.
Jones had two of these devices with him – one at $ 10,000 and the other at $ 40,000. We have arrived from the members of the public to each of these as they passed through the room, and frankly, the Ade651, which he seized, was not more sophisticated than the 3 pounds sterling bars.
I was filled with a feeling of terror. Hundreds (perhaps even thousands) of people died as these devices were used to secure checkpoints inside and outside the conflict areas. Grenades were allowed by a result and people died so that others can benefit from purchase contracts.
For this reason we are annoyed by doubt. Not because we personally stop the bombs detectors in the trick, but because the unlimited nonsense kills people. The idea that seeking evidence is that the elite kills people. It is dangerous and deadly and wipes people. It gives people a false hope and lies.
There were two conversations in particular who were somewhat moving – those that Petra Pointon and Paul Zenon. I think this is because last year, I left behind a profession in technical marketing so that I can study to get a degree that allows me (I hope) to train to become a sad adviser. As you can see, throughout a contract of research, there are important lessons (among others):
- Humans are strange creatures
- Sadness can make you vulnerable to harm
I switched to part -time work and lived at home in the foreseeable future to achieve this and I have doubts that I did the right thing. Huge doubts.
then Dr. Petta Bointon He moved to the theater in Qedcon and presented the complexities of the world of advice and the role they continue to play. She told us that the pharmacy is not a prescription, more people resort to counseling columns due to waiting 18 months to advise NHS and because they do not have another place to go to, and what this can be concerned with those in need.
Paul Zenon He spoke to us about the brokers and techniques that artists’ performance uses on the stage. I know that this information is already (I played even with my psychological offer skeptical) but I feel it is important to remind ourselves that this knowledge is still ignored by people who pay 25 pounds to see a tour of a tour claiming that they have extraordinary capabilities. There was no mistake in the emotion that Paul spoke, as he shared his notes of endless offers by these people who brought the importance of skeptical awareness in this field.
I also enjoyed interesting lectures by my personal heroes, Dr. Suzan Blackmore and Professor Caroline Watt (But after that I am I am A student who taught a lot of paranormal …)
The opening offer before Alan Melikdjanian on behalf of The captain of disappointment It was amazing and gave many tips on how to produce good quality awareness media. He also explained how our first impressions could be how to create a wrong video and that the intestine instinct is not always correct. Shortly later on the weekend Santa Maria She was absolutely presented about her experiences at work as scientific communication through various forms of the media, successes and challenges she faced.
I got out of Qedcon with all this (and more) in my head, I feel that I was re -modified, motivated, and inspired. At the train house, I fill a notebook with ideas and ideas and I hope to put it into practice in the future. If you are especially interested in the activity related to psychological fraud and you have a few hours in the next few months Please call.
Before Qedcon 2016, there were some of which indicated that the event was a back exercise. Although there is an element of celebration of successes and achievements during the weekend, Qedcon is a vital event in the skeptical society. It is educational, subjective, fun, and important. The team should be the major skeptics of Manchester and Merciside very proud.

I am grateful to meet similar people in thinking from all over the world every year and I cannot put words that mean that I have the opportunity to participate in paintings with people I have long liked for such as Professor French, Joe Nickel and Dibora Hyde, Professor Caroline Watt, Professor Richard Wesman, and Professor Suu Blamemore for example. I know I have been personally developed as a direct result of these annual conferences and this is invaluable.
I didn’t even touch to half of what happened and I will not be so, but I will end with a warning:
The skeptical of all over the world in Manchester this week was to organize, communicate, communicate and encourage each other. If you benefit from selling snake or nonsense to people, you can make sure they are coming for you.
