Llifs – Being sensitive to different cultures and the privacy of the deceased during the extraordinary investigations

0

I originally wrote this article in 2017. After seeing a lot of gossip online on similar topics, I thought it was an appropriate time to rewrite some ideas on this important and controversial topic. When I started organizing public paranormal investigations into the sites listed in the general heritage list, I quickly learned that many of these places had unique expectations and demands of life to move forward. Many of this focused on privacy and respect. One site, for example, was a historical reliable suicide on property. While an important time has passed, it was still completely painful for the people in the family. As such, he wished this not to be discussed in any capacity. Another site was an unfortunate accident in the past, which means that the doors were closed to a paranormal community for many years. A group of psychological media seems to have conducted an investigation that the public can attend. What they did not know is that one of the souls they claimed to capture information from, had a family in the tour. Then the brokers continued to demand some terrible things about the personality of this person and even accused them of crimes that there was no historical record, as what they were picked psychologically. As you can imagine, family members were very amazing and made a complaint. This group was asked not to return to the site, and with it, the doors were also closed to other investigators for several years. Who can blame them?

This was as I mentioned in 2017. When we quickly advance until 2024, it is safe to say that many had changed in the field of superior investigation. The biggest change seems to be social media and the rise of content creation. There are more people who explore the paranormal than ever, and many of them are now flowing their ideas, results and adventures for their fans all over the world. Others make short channels or videos that separate the history of the sites and perhaps even some nerve stories. With this comes its set of challenges. Videos contain incorrectly incorrect information and presented as a fact. Ghost stories were exaggerated and in some cases compensated for clicks. The sites were suddenly “demons”. Some sites have been disturbed by the way people acted and I hope they will never allow the doors in the doors in the first place. I do not necessarily think that this was intentionally done by the investigators. I think it was simply that some people are more naive and do not realize because they have become sensitive to these things because of social media.

In some respects, everything becomes a ghost story and it is easy to forget that there are real people and families who suffer from shock and sadness. Imagine how painful it will be incredibly painful to be someone who claims to be speaking to a member of your family and changing history by creating a narration that was not present just because it makes a video more entertaining? Some may feel that they help by putting someone’s story there, but what if the family does not want the story there for everyone to see on YouTube?

When I wrote my original article, I made the following list of suggestions that must be taken into account when working with a new site I think it is still very appropriate today. It extends beyond hosting the investigation there, and I think these discussions should also take place if you are a creator depicted at a location. Learning through a lot of work that you did with places, restrictions, rules and guidelines, it is clear that being sensitive to a person’s culture and privacy also an important part of being a paranormal. If you are going to conduct a general investigation, it is more important than ever to make sure that you are culturally sensitive and also maintain the privacy and dignity element for the deceased because you do not only represent your group, but also the place. Below are some of the reasons that make it important to be sensitive to these areas:

  • If you are checking somewhere like Gaol, it is very likely that the deceased will have family members who are still alive. While a person is passed, it is important to not speculate or assume any type of person who may be, what they might be or have not done respect for the deceased, as well as any current family members.
  • If you are investigating a place where people have gone from a certain culture, then you need again to understand the beliefs that culture is on the afterlife and paranormal life. Is the paranormal a subject of taboo condemned by a specific culture? Do they believe in the afterlife? Are there some practices or procedures that should be in place to adhere to their beliefs?
  • Places are very protection for its reputation and also the experience that people move away from. It is also very protection on the history of the place. Was there a darker side of their history they did not want to announce? Again, it can simply be respectful of the families concerned. As investigators, we avoid places with dark history of violence, killing and suicide, but it may not want a beautiful place to be known in this way.
  • He is just respect – no one wants to go on a tour and believe they are communicating with a member of his family, then they have some elegance and screaming at them.

What are the elements that you think should be added to this list?

It is really important to sit with your site and make sure you are on the same page. What I always found was a really good approach to making the representative of the place being an investigation with you. They can see your style and also help you in any date and information you may need. Then you can have a discussion about what you can and you cannot discuss.

Many places are reluctant to open the door to the paranormal. It can be a topic of taboo, they may not believe in the paranormal, and they may not want reputation, and they may be afraid to offend people or may not want to be associated with the extraordinary period! If you are lucky enough to have someone who opens the door for you, it is important to act with respect and adhere to his desires. If you face what they want or represent them in a way that they do not agree with, this door will be closed. Not only will it be closed not only, but also to an entire paranormal community. I know this about the fact that we faced this problem with Victoria for a very long time. Places are now more open to the presence of investigators through the events they host, but a few years ago this was not the case at all, and this I know from the experience. It was very difficult and a lot of work and reassurance to get some of these places to open again. Why he hesitated? Some are because they do not want to attract those looking for suspense the paranormal who will be achieved. Because they do not want the subject of a paranormal or anything negative associated with property. Most of the time they closed the doors because the group of a paranormal was there and did something to disturb them because they not only expel them, but they do not allow anyone else. This may take years and years to fix it, and the simple mistake he made is tight or a culture there as a reason to annoy them.

At the end of the day, whether you are a investigator or a content creator with millions of followers, you still have to act professionally because you only represent yourself, you represent a paranormal community and the place. Let’s see them how great it could be a wonderful paranormal community.
